As some of you may be aware, the OCSL Grandmasters Working Group has been trying to launch a 60+ division the last two summers. While there were a dozen teams interested each year, only 2-3 of them could put together a roster of players that were all over the age of 60 - not viable.
The working group continued to meet in the fall. After lengthy discussions, the OCSL is pleased to announce that we will be running a Grandmasters 55+ division for the upcoming summer.
The minimum age for the 2026 season will be 55 (born 1970 or earlier). The following year the minimum age will be 56 (born in 1971 or earlier). This progression will continue until the division naturally becomes a 60+ league in 2031. For more information and insight into the rationale for the yearly progression, have a read over the December 9th Meeting Minutes. We already have verbal confirmation from five (5) teams, and would love to see eight or more for the inaugural season.
We ask you to help spread the word to any of your current or former teammates who may be interested.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out - manager@ocslonline.ca. There will be further discussions at the AGM in January.
